Bank of Jordan Partners with Give Palestine Association to Deliver Food Aid to Gaza
The Bank of Jordan in Palestine has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Give Palestine Association to provide and distribute food aid in the northern Gaza Strip.
The agreement was signed at the Bank of Jordan's regional headquarters in Ramallah, in the presence of Mr. Saif Issa, CEO of Jordan Bank branches in Palestine, and Mrs. Raja Abu Ghazaleh Sha’ath, Director-General of the Give Palestine Association, along with a number of staff from both organizations.
Mr. Issa explained that this support comes within the framework of the multi-faceted relief program to support the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, which was launched by the Bank of Jordan to assist citizens in the difficult humanitarian conditions they are experiencing in the Strip. This memorandum constitutes the second axis of the relief work encompassed by the program, aiming to provide support for hot meals for citizens in northern Gaza, who are suffering from severe famine and a severe shortage of food and resources.
Mr. Issa praised the efforts of the Aid Association in assisting citizens, including purchasing necessary resources, preparing meals in designated association kitchens, and distributing them to an estimated 28,000 beneficiaries through the association’s staff in northern Gaza. The distribution covers shelters, camps, health centers, and specifically targets orphans, people with disabilities, the elderly, and poor families.
Dr. Abu Ghazaleh expressed her appreciation for the strategic partnership with the Bank of Jordan, emphasizing that the citizens of Gaza, especially in the north, are in dire need of food resources and face a real threat of widespread famine. Therefore, the association works day and night to secure as many hot meals and food resources as possible for families in northern Gaza.
She stressed that this is not the first partnership between the association and the Bank of Jordan, as the bank has always been a leading partner in responding to urgent needs and taking the initiative to meet relief, humanitarian, and development requirements through a series of successful previous projects implemented by the association with the bank, such as establishing the “Tafawwaq” model library, the home renovation project, Ramadan food parcels, and others.
It is worth noting that Give Palestine Association is a non-profit civil society organization established in 2010, working to implement relief and development projects in all Palestinian areas in the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and Jerusalem. The Bank of Jordan is one of the first financial institutions to have a presence in Palestine after 1994. The bank has contributed to providing distinguished banking services in the Palestinian territories, targeting a wide range of Palestinian sectors and contributing to supporting and developing the local economy. Through its social responsibility, the bank has fulfilled a noble message in supporting and empowering society, and making an effective contribution to various relief, humanitarian, and sustainable development projects.
